Take Over - Sun down —Screen down

25.06.2022, 20:30 — 23:00 Film

Sun down — Screen down are open-air film screenings in the green garden of Kunsthal Extra City and Morpho, preceded by an artist talk with the makers of the films.

An open conversation with film makers about the creative and organizational process behind making a short film. This artist talk is followed by an introduction and screening of the short movies 5 PM Seaside, Salt and Bread and Chorus.

Chorus by Line Pillet and Heleen Declerq (5 minutes)

The film was shot in 16mm and shows the impossible love between Eve and Robin. It is an intimate observation of two women and the loneliness they experience in their relationship. Chorus is a visual quest through their bedroom, in which realism and surrealism coincide.

5PM seaside by Valentin Stejskal (shortfilm 25 minutes)

On his 40th birthday, Nikos, a solitary truck driver, arrives on a remote beach. He's there to meet his former lover, Christos, whom he hasn't seen since their military days.

Salt and Butter by Balint Birò, Diego Quindere de Carvalho and Salome Razikashvili (documentary 13 min)

Mamuka (12) spends the summer high up in the Southern Caucasian mountains with no friends around to play. In his solitude, he finds company in the older men of the village, that eventually initiate him to the traditions of the Georgian table.

Of course the bar is also open that evening.

Take Over is a group of young international art students in Antwerp. They organize events with the aim of bringing art students from different backgrounds and disciplines together to make connections and stimulate creative exchange.
