On Thursday 22 January, Extra City hosts the public PhD defence of artist Bianca Baldi, who will defend her doctoral project Play-White: Racial Passing and Embodied Images. The defence is part of a research trajectory culminating in the solo exhibition Sea Through Skin, currently on view at Extra City.

The public defence will take place in the canteen of MORPHO, Extra City’s neighbouring organisation. A reception will follow in the bar at Extra City. The event is open to the public, but registration is required.

During the defence, Baldi will present her artistic research and engage in dialogue with an international jury. After the jury’s questions, the audience will be invited to participate, followed by deliberation, proclamation, and closing remarks.
