Opening 'While We Count Our Earthquakes'

25.04.2025, 19:00 — 00:00 Opening

We warmly invite you to join us on Friday, April 25, 2025, for the festive opening of While We Count Our Earthquakes. This is the first Belgian solo exhibition of internationally renowned Palestinian-Danish artist Larissa Sansour.

In this powerful exhibition, Sansour explores themes of grief, memory, and intergenerational trauma, drawing inspiration from both the suffering of the Palestinian people and the looming threat of natural disasters. Through speculation and science fiction, she offers a visionary glimpse into the future.

In While We Count Our Earthquakes, past, present, and possible futures intertwine. Sansour merges sculpture with moving images and opera with science fiction, reimagining the history of her embattled homeland, a nation on the brink of destruction.

The exhibition runs from April 26 to September 21, but we would love to welcome you to our opening on April 25! Join us from 7:00 PM to explore the exhibition, meet the artist in person, and enjoy a drink in good company.

Our neighbours at MORPHO are also celebrating that evening: at 7:00 PM, the refectory will host the opening of Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, the first solo exhibition by Meri Toivanen (°1996, Finland).

Location Kunsthal Extra City - Church, Provinciestraat 112, 2018 Antwerpen
