Kunsthal Extra City opens its cultural season on Friday 6 September with ‘The Porous Lodge. In Which Nothing Moves Forward on Straight Lines.' by Yoel Pytowski. We cordially invite you to be the first to discover Pytowski's ambitious solo exhibition, curated by Zuzanna Rachowska, where the boundaries between art and architecture are blurred.
For the exhibition, the artist has been given full creative freedom to design a large-scale installation in the chapel. This transformative installation will completely change the environment of the chapel and immerse visitors in a spatial experience. It is the first in-situ installation of this scale in Extra City since its relocation to the former Dominican Church.
'The Porous Lodge' explores Pytowski's visual thinking and his interest in repetition, movement, time, partition and difference. To further highlight these themes, four visual artists—Amel Omar, Rosario Aninat, Nina Canell, and Manon van den Eeden—and choreographer Sandy Williams will present their artistic interventions throughout the exhibition. These interventions engage in dialogue with the installation, deepening the interaction between space and human experience.
The artistic interventions will be visible from the following days:
- Saturday 12 October 2024: Amel Omar
- Friday 25 October 2024: Rosario Aninat
- Saturday 2 November 2024: Nina Canell
- Saturday 9 November 2024: Manon van den Eeden
- Friday 29 November 2024 at 19:00: Sandy Williams
‘The Porous Lodge’ will be on view from Saturday 7 September until Sunday 1 December 2024, but we would very much like to welcome you to the opening on Friday 6 September! Drop by to discover Pytowski's exhibition and meet the artist in person over a drink. We will open the doors at 7pm and close with a festive DJ set by Clara! from 9 to 11pm. Come for the art and stay for the ragatanga rhythm of Clara!
