Different cultural spots in Flanders and Brussel organize discovery tours, workshops, shows and other activities for children and families on Sunday the 15th of November. In the context of the current exhibition ‘The Corner Show’, children between 6 and 12 years old can join a workshop in Extra City. This groups show questions ‘the corner’ and displays works which stand or hang inside, next to, along … a corner, or which form a corner themselves. Other artworks talk about the function of the corner and about space: why does something or someone has to stand into a corner sometimes or why do we sometimes hide ourselves into a corner? The artworks are situated in and around big blue blocks: a scenography conceived by artist Philip Metten.
The children will walk through the exhibition with a guide and see which artworks they like or dislike. After this inspirational moment, they get started and invent their own corner piece. They will make a maquette, with a lot of attention to the scenography of their mini-exhibition and in the end they will display their self-made corner piece in it.
The workshops take place at 14:00 and at 16:00 and last about one hour.
Children can participate for free. Please subscribe at [email protected] (maximum 15 participants per workshop).
The workshops are in Dutch.
Kunstendag voor Kinderen is an event of the Flemish government and is organized by the section Visual Arts of the Department Culture, Youth and Media (CJSM).
