Using artifacts borrowed from predecessors, potential accidents and chances, the work of Yann Sérandour leads investigations and indexes missing pieces, in order to prolong and cast doubt on histories. His interstitial work has often extended conceptual art works from the sixties and seventies, periods of particular interest to him because of their diffusion in the form of publications, books and prints – his material of predilection. In his more recent work, Yann Sérandour turned his attention to decorative objects such as antique mirrors, marbled papers, fire surrounds or ornamental cactus, and used them as conceptual and temporal frames to think about cultural transmission.
