Film maker Arjuna Neuman and philosopher Denise Ferreira da Silva started collaborating in 2016 on Elemental Cinema, a series of films that take our world’s basic elements — earth, air, water and fire — as starting points. Through these films they question the dominant, Western perspective on knowledge of both the human and the non-human. Their ethical-esthetical viewpoint focuses on systemic structures of colonialism, capitalism and imperial injustice.

On the occasion of the duo's exhibition at Kunsthal Extra City, a public program is developed with CCQO/ARIA, Beursschouwburg and DE SINGEL. At DE SINGEL the film Soot Breath / Corpus Infinitum (2020) will be shown and the film makers have invited First Nations poet and environmental activist Kayah George to show her film Our Grandmother The Inlet. The artists will be present and will present a keynote.
