Organised by Kunsthal Extra City & DMW Gallery
I'll explain everything to the geese is a happening by Ignace Cami, based on elements of a Belgian folk tradition. These elements are transformed into a contemporary format in which they gain new layers of meaning. For this event Cami hijacks the familiarity of a reception with an open bar.
In exchange for the festivities of this social event you are confronted with the burden of a ceramic object, chained to your glass. As the size of the reception swells and the recurrence of the objects starts adding a ritualistic feel to the whole, you might wonder what is going on. The objects, similar as they seem, are all uniquely handmade and demand care. At the same time the equality of this burden connects you to the whole, a body of people. Will you act on it? Small differences in the features of the objects might spark conversations. The mysterious origins of the project might trigger your imagination. You might even reflect on themes such as responsibility, value, burden and shared experience. You get all of this and more, whilst enjoying a nice glass of whatever you like.
