Organised by Yasmina Reggad
On Saturday, May 31, we invite you to a special marathon reading in which art students give voice to a series of texts related to Welkom - Bienvenue - Welcome - Willkommen (2017–2024), the much-discussed work by Lebanese artist Marie Zolamian, created as a commission for the KMSKA.
The reading takes place within the exhibition we dreamt of utopia and we woke up screaming. all before… all after… by Yasmina Reggad, which focuses on amplifying militant voices and encouraging political engagement. Against this backdrop, the reading invites reflection on artistic freedom, institutional responsibility, and the role of art in the public realm. Reggad’s exhibition not only reactivates a history of resistance but also sparks the imagination for alternative futures shaped by solidarity and collective action.
Over the course of seven hours, students will perform these texts in a relay of voices. Visitors are welcome to enter, listen, and become part of a performative moment where art, context, and language intersect.
